About Me

I’m Julia Starr — career & leadership coach, writer, and the person people call when they know something has to change… but can’t quite name what.

My work sits at the intersection of psychology, strategy, and creative problem-solving — the sweet spot where self-awareness turns into decisive action. Over the past decade, I’ve coached leaders, entrepreneurs, and high-performers across industries to navigate the inflection points that define a career: the big pivots, the bold moves, and the moments when their old ways of working no longer fit.

Before starting my coaching practice, I cut my teeth in management consulting at Boston Consulting Group, worked as a teacher for a year abroad in Malaysia as a Fulbright Fellow, helped streamline and operationalize a family saw business, earned my Ed.M. focused on Adult Development Psychology from Harvard, and built a women’s leadership program that reached 850+ professionals. But what my clients value most isn’t the résumé — it’s the way I can spot the thread in their story that leads to their next chapter, and help them walk toward it with clarity and confidence.

I grew up in a small mining town in northern Minnesota, spent years living and working around the globe — from Dubai to Tanzania to New York City — and now call the mountains of Oregon home. I have a penchant for adventure, and challenge myself mentally and physically every day to reach new heights, literally. Whether on horseback or backcountry skis (or in a coaching session), I have a desire to live on the edge of what is possible.

If we work together, expect both depth and momentum. I’ll ask you questions you didn’t know you needed to answer — and then I’ll help you build something extraordinary from your responses.
